Macropinocytosis is an essential mechanism by which pancreatic tumor cells internalize extracellular material to be used as an energy source to fuel proliferation. We describe the mechanism by which the actin cross-linking α-actinin proteins mediate membrane ruffling and macropinosome delivery to the lysosome during this process.
Dynamin 2 interacts with α-actinin 4 to drive tumor cell invasion

Molecular Biology of the Cell | May 18, 2020 | Volume: 31 | Issue: 6 | Pages: 439-451

Dyn2 and α-actinin 4 interact directly to regulate invasive cell migration and the stabilization of invadopodia. Intriguingly, this is specific for α-actinin 4, and not the highly related protein α-actinin 1. These findings elucidate a novel mechanism of regulating cell migration, with important implications for invasive tumor cells.
